IPv6 is the next generation of IP addresses. There are no more IPv4 addresses to spend soon. Many Datacenters these days are asking too much money for IPv4 addresses. It is impossible to use all the IPv6 addresses, just because it are so many. Every person on earth can have a own IPv6 range, every device on earth can have a own IPv6 address. And if that is not enough, we can give also from the same IPv6 space,  every person on planet mars a IPv6 range
Just to imagine the amount of IP’s we can all use with IPv6.

Update through your control panel (update home) our via commandline (/script/upcp) as normal.

Now that the InstallApp script is working again, it would be nice if we could have the community volunteer to update the 100+ scripts. Find info on how to do that here.

The code is now open source (encryption has been removed) – and if you missed it AGPL. This should make it easier for all to do maintenance and feature development.

In this release we have also cut the connections to the old license server. The license server is still needed with HyperVM.

It’s been quite a task; looking into one mans code and patches. A lot of cleanup or completely recoding is still necessary – we hope you’ll join in. Even though the team is new and small, we’ve learnt a lot for this past year, and this should only speed things up in the future.

On another note: Happy New Year.

As you all know, LxCenter is a not-for-profit organization operating off of donor funds. We do not charge for our products, nor do we charge for support. We currently have about half of the money necessary to afford HostingCon and the travel expenses. At the time of HostingCon, 8^th August – 10^th August, we should have released a couple new versions of both Kloxo and HyperVM. In fact, at this time, we are nearing a public release of the next versions of both.

The main reasons for us to attend HostingCon would be to speak with representatives of hosting companies from around the world, as well as to garner support from those hosting companies. If we can get them to migrate over from their current solutions, we will have more users and we will definitely be able to continue development. If we can get more companies to support us, then we can get more development done faster. The main reason is that we will have more servers for development purposes. Additionally, if we get support from companies throughout the world, we will be able to provide a better experience through our download servers. As opposed to forcing every client to rely on the servers we have in the USA, we could provide more local download servers, possibly some in Europe, a couple more in North America (such as Canada and Mexico), and maybe even one or two in the Australia and Oceana region.

Additionally, the opportunity to meet with representatives in the hosting industry is an opportunity we cannot pass up.

At this time, we are asking for donations of money. We need about $350 USD to cover the costs of attendance and travel. We need that money by 14^th March to get the best rates possible for the travel, as rates in the USA go up rather quickly for summertime travel.

Andre has resigned his post, after just over 3 months as project manager. He has gone on to pursue other interests.

After his resignation, Danny contacted another individual who has shown leadership within the projects and Danny and Arthur are now in the process of determining if he is the best person for the job.

The Consortium and its volunteer developers all would like to send their thanks to Andre. He did a good job leading us and he did a great job managing partnership relations.

We have appointed a new project manager. The projects will continue, and our new Development Manager has high hopes for the projects.

We will miss the guidance Andre offered, but we welcome our new Development Manager.

This should ease access to content and tie everything better together. Hopefully making the user experience and interaction better. We will also be using this spot to channel all HyperVM and Kloxo related news directly to you.

For now, we are just testing everything works. We will keep you posted on further updates.
